CNN's iReport asks viewers for their contributions to be used in the network's coverage on air and online From today, 11th August, CNN International will broadcast a special series 'Muslim in 2010', to run on the network's daily news program ‘Prism', broadcast from Abu Dhabi, throughout the four weeks of Ramadan. CNN iReport is asking viewers all over the world to show and tell what it means to be a Muslim today. Viewers can upload videos to www.cnn.com/ime with the best submissions to be showcased on the ‘Inside the Middle East' website and on air during ‘Prism'. The series launches live at 12am Kuala Lumpur time tomorrow from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi where CNN cameras have been granted rare access to film. From there for the next month, CNN travels the world from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Spain and Oman to Kuwait, Indonesia, Palestine and the United Arab Emirates capturing the debates and the issues that affect Muslims who are embracing their faith in 2010. About the programming In Oman, CNN presenter Rima Maktabi (pictured left) discovers more about the Ibadhi Islam school of thought and takes a closer look at its prominent traditions.
In Indonesia, CNN visits 22 year old music artist and actor Dimas Beck, as he performs his latest single, a remix of a popular Islamic song from the 1960s which teaches children about the virtues of fasting and praying. In Kuwait, CNN's Schams Elwazer takes a look at superheroes inspired by Islam. CNN travels to the Netherlands to take a closer look at the Polder Mosque, possibly Europe's first to be run by a woman, and a popular holy place struggling financially as it refuses foreign assistance in order to maintain its highly liberal approach. Being Muslim in Cuba has its unique challenges; CNN finds out how people pray in Havana where there isn't a single mosque. ‘Prism' is CNN's provocative live daily news programme that challenges viewers to step outside of their comfort zones, to see the news from a different vantage point, be it cultural, political, geographical, economical, historical, age, gender or faith.
