Fareed Zakaria GPS

Beginning June 1, 2008, New York Times best-selling author Fareed Zakaria will be the host of a new international news program on CNN. This hour-long program will take an in-depth look at foreign affairs and the policies shaping our world. Each week it will feature an in-depth interview with a world leader, as well as a panel of international analysts who will examine the major global developments of the week. As always, Fareed's emphasis will be on new ideas and innovative approaches to solving the world's toughest problems.

Fareed Zakaria is a journalist, author, editor, commentator and a television host. He was named editor of Newsweek International in October 2000, overseeing all Newsweek's editions abroad. In 2007, he was named one of the 100 leading public intellectuals in the world by Foreign Policy and Prospect magazines. He is also the author of several books, two of which are New York Times best sellers. His most recent work, The Post-American World, is currently #5 on the New York Times best sellers list. Zakaria received a B.A. from Yale and a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard.
